About AGIV
AGIV enables optimal application of geographical information in Flanders. AGIV is the successor to GIS-Flanders, founded in 1995. The purpose of GIS-Flanders was to coordinate, control, guide and support a multitude of initiatives in the field of geography. At the same time, GIS-Flanders aimed to improve the collaboration between the regions, provinces and local authorities with regard to geographical initiatives. Following an administrative reform within the Flemish Government, GIS-Flanders was transformed into the FGIA (AGIV) in 2006.
