Blom awarded NOK 7 million contract in Mozambique

Blom Sistemas Geoespaciales, Blom’s subsidiary in Spain, has signed a contract with Cenacarta, the National Center for Cartography and Tele Detection in the Republic of Mozambique, worth an estimated NOK 7 million. The contract is for a territorial cartography project to create 1:25 000 scale maps using satellite images.

The project includes collection and processing of map data, in addition to technology transfer of hardware, software and satellite images, of the Moamba district in Mozambique. Furthermore, the project includes training of the Cenacarta technicians.
The Republic of Mozambique will use the data among other for cadastres, infrastructure planning, energy and telecom planning, as well as within the Military and teaching institutions.

Cenacarta technicians will be trained in cartography, photogrammetry and geodesy with specific focus on field support, aerial triangulation, stereo plotting, orthophoto production, map editing and cartographic generalization.
