Blom signed framework agreement in Italy
Blom CGR, the Italian subsidiary of Blom ASA, Europe's largest company within collection and processing of geographic information, has entered into a framework agreement to supply high-tech remote sensing services to the Tuscany Public Administration in Italy. Blom expects the project to start during 2nd quarter 2010. The collected data will among other be used for urban analysis, mapping and geographical surveys.
“This agreement is a further confirmation that our services maintain high professional and commercial level, and it is a recognition of the expertise we represent for the Italian Public Administration in mapping and geographical surveys”, says Giovanni Banchini, CEO of Blom CGR, Blom’s Italian subsidiary.
Tuscany is one of Italy’s largest regions, with 22,992 sq km of territory and more than 3.9 million inhabitants, and the Public Administration in Tuscany is highly proactive in remote sensing and mapping. The agreement involves execution of services through the use of airborne sensors in regional territories. The remote sensing data is a part of new investments within urban mapping in the region.
In addition to topographic LiDAR (laser) data, the project will include delivery of aerial photography and digital orthophotos. The high resolution imagery has a detail level of up to app. 20 cm per pixel. The agreement underlines Blom’s success within this important focus area.
