BLOM WINS SMALL HYDROPOWER PLANT CADASTRE PROJECT IN MONTENEGRO TOGETHER WITH VODNI ZDROJE

The project is funded by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and its aim is to contribute to the extension of installed capacity of small hydro power plants (SHPPs) in Montenegro.

There is large unused water potential for power generation in the entire country but there is lack of hydrological and hydro technical data for identification of potentially interesting sites for SHPP installations. In this respect a small hydropower Registry (Cadastre) for 13 municipalities within Northern Montenegro will be processed under coordination of EBRD to provide an easy applicable tool for rational decision making. With use of up-to-date geographical information system (GIS) and measuring technologies the Registry will provide high quality hydrological and hydro technical data needed for investment preparation.

Project kick-off meeting was held in Podgorica on March 29th-30th with attendance of representatives of EBRD, Ministry of Economy and 13 municipalities from Northern part of Montenegro.
